About Us


Kevin Killingsworth, Partner


Kevin Killingsworth has over thirty-five years of bank card and payments industry consulting experience. He specializes in assisting issuers, acquirers, processors and merchants in improving operational effectiveness, reducing risk and maximizing profitability related to card payments. Mr. Killingsworth also serves as an expert witness, conducting data analyses, preparing reports and testifying in court in matters related to credit card processing and merchant acquiring. He has conducted over 700 consulting projects for financial services and payment card industry clients in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia Pacific, central and western Asia, Africa and Latin America. Before that, Mr. Killingsworth headed Visa International's Risk Management Department for over two years. He also worked with numerous Visa Members during his tenure with Visa's Research and Statistics and Delivery Systems Planning Departments. His background includes extensive experience with bank card operations, fraud and credit risk strategy, authorizations and product profitability analysis. He received a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Davis and an MBA in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley.

Expert Witness

Kevin Killingsworth has been retained as an expert witness in several cases related to credit card processing, merchant underwriting and monitoring practices, and acquirer oversight of third party agents.  In this role he has conducted data analyses, evaluated compliance with card brand rules, submitted expert reports, and provided expert testimony in trials and depositions.


Merchant Acquiring Risk Management Assessment

Conduct a detailed review of risk management policies, practices and controls related to the acquisition, set-up, periodic credit review, transaction monitoring, suspect activity response and merchant termination functions to manage credit and fraud risk exposure. RMC developed the initial Acquirer Risk Review Process guide for Visa that morphed into the GARS program and the current Visa Acquirer Risk Standards (VARS) program.  Mr. Killingsworth has conducted 24 Visa risk assessments and numerous other acquirer reviews and best practices studies.


Merchant Risk Review

Evaluate a merchant's card acceptance strategies, sales and marketing approaches, policies, risk controls, operational processes, data analysis and reporting. Identify areas out of compliance with card brand rules and make recommendations to reduce fraud and chargebacks below card brand thresholds, while considering the impact on sales and operational costs. Mr. Killingsworth completed 14 risk assessments as one of about 15 firms worldwide approved by Visa to conduct the reviews.

Fraud Risk Management Assessment -- Review strategies, policies and practices to identify opportunities to enhance fraud loss prevention, early detection and loss recovery performance.
Cardholder Authorizations Strategy -- Evaluate issuer authorization risk management policies, practices and systems capabilities to assist issuers in developing more effective strategies for controlling risk, managing cardholder spend and increasing profitability.
